Question by Mr. Holden: How can i tell if my audemars piguet watch is real?
I got a watch from a friend of mine after he passed away. In just looking up the watch it is an audemar piguet watch. Those watches sell for a lot of money when they are real. I tried contacting the swiss company directly and apparently they have the worst customer service on earth because they have never responded to 2 emails I sent requesting information. There are serial numbers on the back, it is not currently working not sure why. How can I tell if its real? If it is I would just as soon sell it for the money as I don’t even wear watches. Please help.

AP is one of the big 3 Swiss watch makers along with Patek Phillipe and Vacheron Constantin. Although 95% of people have never heard of these brands, they are recognized as being much higher quality than Rolex among those who know watches. These 3 have been in business for hundreds of years and can trace their history back to the beginnings of watch making.
Since these companies still do a lot of their work by hand, unlike Rolexes which are almost all machine made, they can cost significantly more. Watches with complications (special features) can run over $ 100,000. There are some models which may be close in price to an average Rolex though (5-8k) but those are only the most basic. Typical watch will be about 4x what Rolex would charge.
Their faces are similar in size to Rolex – about 38-42mm.

but my favourite watch is found in the Aidemar Piguet range, you have to be careful with theirs though, some are just kinda old man bling
